Material and Production Methods of the Artworks

Gascoigne uses materials that ‘need to have been open to the weather.’ Thus she uses materials that are found – wood, iron, feathers, wire, road signs etc. She would work with these materials that she finds and combine them to form her artworks.

Strictly Ballroom (82 x 71cm) is constructed by sawing wood she would have found somewhere, and arranged loosely onto a grid.

Hall's Pett Level England (28 x 28cm) is a gelatine silver photograph It was a photograph taken during her the period of her early works (1974-1978). During this time, her work moved away from merely documenting, but more personal/less defined images.
